The International HLA Reference Standards biorepository is currently comprised of more than 1,000 B-LCL that were derived from past International Histocompatibility Workshops (IHW). The repository houses cell lines, DNA and cloned HLA genes established in the 10th, 12th and 13th International Histocompatibility Workshops (IHWS) as international standards for the HLA community. For more information on the IHW community's work, visit the www.ihwg.org site.

The IHW inventory also contains family material for pedigree analysis representing several normal and disease-related populations: HBDI (Type 1 Diabetes) trios; normal Utah CEPH families; and human diversity (Caucasian, African-American, Asian, Hispanic and Amerindian) populations obtained from CIL and from extramural contributing laboratories and institutions.  Samples in the Reference Standards inventory have been extensively typed for HLA-A, B, C, DR, DQ and DP alleles, selected MHC-associated microsatellite markers, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), cytokine gene polymorphisms and other genomic polymorphisms studied during the international workshops.

To request IHWG samples go to the www.ihwg.org website. Fred Hutch investigators receive a large discount.
