A five-day Mass Spectrometry Proteomics course is recommended for Center staff who are currently utilizing proteomics or who plan to use proteomics in the near future.  The course is intended to educate novice users of the technology to the level where they have a solid understanding and could apply the gained knowledge to their research.

Class is held during the week of October 8 - 12, 2012 from 2 – 5 p.m. daily. Space is limited. Anyone interested in taking the course should register with Liz Hirunmetakij by email at ehirunme@fhcrc.org.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Basis of Mass Spectrometers
  • Data Acquisition; LC/MS
  • Protein Identification and Quantitation
  • Characterizing Post-translational Modifications
  • Analysis of Complex Mixtures
  • Targeted Proteomics
  • Basis for Database Search Algorithms
  • Rudimentary Analysis of Proteomics Data
  • Preparing Samples for Mass Spectrometry
