ThermoScientific placed their company’s triple quadrupole mass spectrometer, the TSQ Vantage, in the Proteomics Facility as a “seed” instrument to be used for evaluation purposes.  The scan functions of triple quadrupole instruments give the ability to perform highly selective and sensitive quantification of analytes from complex mixtures.

The facility plans to primarily use the instrument for targeted quantitative assays of proteins in biomarker validation projects, targeted analysis of protein modifications (especially phosphorylation), and quantification of small molecules.  Anyone interested in learning more about the instrument can contact Phil Gafken (206-667-2872).
