The Electron Microscopy Resource received a new JEOL 1400 transmission electron microscope (TEM) in August.  This microscope is a high performance, high contrast, 120KV TEM and will have two Gatan cameras for digital imaging attached.  The instrument will be located in the Thomas Building on the E level in room DE-780.

This microscope also has the capability for electron tomography.  Cryo TEM can be added if needed in the future.  Interested tomography users should contact the EM Resource to participate in an introductory class given in Fall 2012.

More information on the JEOL 1400 can be found on the JEOL website listed below:

A new JEOL scanning electron microscope (SEM) will be coming in the near future to replace the JEOL 5800 SEM.  Look for more information on arrival of this instrument in future newsletters or on our website.
