New Billing and Instrument Scheduling System!

Shared Resources Administration is launching a new billing application with iLab’s Core Facility Management software. This system will allow researchers and Shared Resource staff to manage service requests, equipment reservations, usage tracking and billing – all online.

iLab will integrate with the Center’s PeopleSoft Finance Management System and Active Directory. First-time internal users will log in with their HutchNet ID and select the principal investigator’s laboratory with which they are affiliated. The principal investigator’s research coordinator will then get an email with the request and approve the employee as a lab member. After approval, staff will be granted access to order services. The implementation of iLab began in September 2013 with the Proteomics resource, which went live with iLab on September 9. Three additional resources - Flow Cytometry (live on September 16), Electron Microscopy (live on October 23), and Experimental Histopathology (live on December 2) - are scheduled to go live with iLab before the end of the year, and seven additional resources will be deployed in two phases with an anticipated completion date of January 2014.

Resources that will not be using iLab will continue to process service requests, instrument scheduling and billing as usual. 

Shared Resources will communicate process and procedure changes via email, our website and Brown Bag sessions in addition to ongoing support to researchers and core facilities. Individual training sessions for research groups are also available upon request.
