About UpToDate

UpToDate includes over 90,000 pages of text, graphics and abstracts covering all of general internal medicine and 19 medical subspecialties. It also includes a complete drug database and drug interactions program (in partnership with Lexicomp) as well as over 900 patient education topics.

UpToDate is used by over 450,000 clinicians in 149 countries. Content is written by a faculty of more than 5,100 authors, editors and peer reviewers, all of whom are practicing physicians and experts in their areas. These physicians review a wide range of source materials, including over 460 journals, electronic databases (including Medline, The Cochrane Database, Clinical Evidence and ACP Journal Club), the published results from clinical trials, and proceedings from major national meetings. They then synthesize the data and write original topics, which are put through a rigorous three-tier peer review process to ensure accuracy and objectivity.

Some of our current, local UpToDate authors/editors include:

  • Michael Boeckh, MD
  • Corey Casper, MD, MPH
  • H Joachim Deeg, MD
  • Elihu H Estey, MD
  • William M Grady, MD
  • Kim Margolin, MD
  • Renato G Martins, MD, MPH
  • Scott D Ramsey, MD
  • Brenda M Sandmaier, MD
  • Akiko Shimamura, MD, PhD
  • Jonathan L Wright, MD, MS
