DNA extraction is provided using various salting out techniques. Different procedures are used depending on the sample to obtain the highest quality and the largest yield possible. DNA is then quantified by means of PicoGreen to measure the quantity and/or OD 260/280 via nanodrop to measure the quantity and quality. Further DNA quality can also be measured via agarose gel. DNA remains as stock or a desired concentration can be prepared. A barcode labeling system can be used to identify and track all samples submitted to the SPL/RCB. The use of barcodes serves not only as a link to the database but also as a sample de-identifier for downstream applications.
The Research Cell Bank lab is also a Member of the DNA Genotek Partner Program for Oragene Saliva DNA extraction (http://www.dnagenotek.com/US/partners/genomicserviceproviders/gspapar.html)
To initiate any work with Specimen Processing Lab, you must first fill out a Service Initiation Form. This form should be sent to email@example.com or faxed to (206) 667-5590. After submitting this form you can request services using iLab.
